Over here at Delta Zeta, Beta Delta Chapter, we
don’t mess around with
our philanthropy events. This Sunday, March 23, 2014, we have one of our
biggest events: Turtle Tug! Turtle Tug is a tug-of-war competition over a giant
pit of jello. I know, it’s
awesome. The proceeds go to both our national and local philanthropies. One
local Columbia group that benefits from our fundraising is Brennen Elementary
School's special class for children with speech and hearing impairments.
Nationally, Delta Zeta also donates to the Painted Turtle Camp, Gallaudet
University, and The House Ear Institute. This year our goal is to raise $30,000
in order to donate a substantial amount to these philanthropies. We’re going all out and pulling out
all the stops to make this the best Turtle Tug yet! If you’re in a sorority, or even if you’re not,
you know how much fun philanthropy events really are. If you don’t know why they’re awesome…here you go:
1. Bonding: Every single sister is there for the exact same reasons: to raise money and have a blast!
2. Free food: Most of the time food is provided at philanthropy events! Even if it’s not free, it goes to a good cause so eat up and don't feel guilty!
3. Prizes: Who doesn’t love free garb?! Especially when it’s gift cards to your favorite restaurants and obviously some spectacular t-shirts.
